What have you heard about our school’s FBLA club? FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is a club designed to teach you leadership skills like working with people or turning things in on time. Some people have said that they like to do competitions and that it’s really fun. Others have said that they create posters, flyers, or participate in fundraisers. This group of around 65 is on the move with creative ideas.
Currently they are doing a fundraiser called the March of Dimes. They are making flyers, posters, and other things to spread the message around the school. The March of Dimes starts on March 18th and goes until the 29th of March. The March of Dimes is a fundraiser where everyone collects any change or even dollar bills to help those struggling in financial problems. It helps children who are born pre-mature and their families. When pre-mature babies are born these families may have to travel far to hospitals which can put them out of work for a while. The money goes to help the research of pre-mature children too. Overall it is a great way to support those who are going through this and prevent people from it as well.
They are also having a Barbeque on March 15th from 3:15 to 6:15. After interviewing Mrs. West she says this fundraiser is for state competition funds. State competitions can cost a lot, so hopefully this works out for the best. They will be selling things such as coleslaw, beans, chicken, hush puppies, barbeque, and baked goods too.
In conclusion our schools FBLA club is very active with fundraising and competitions. They are collecting donations for the March of Dimes and selling tickets for the Barbeque. After asking several members they seem to be enjoying FBLA this year. Some have said that responsibility is the key concept and others think you learn how to be time conscientious and mature. FBLA is hard at work this year for sure.
